ION ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION AT CANNES

ION International Film Festival (IONIFF) Nigeria 09, has announced its participation at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival edition, in an effort to promote it's 2009 location, Nigeria and reach out to a global audience of industry professionals.

ION's representatives have joined cause with the Nigerian Film Corporation, headed by Mr. Afolabi Adesanya, at the Cannes Marché du Film Nigerian Pavilion booth #111, to meet and greet filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world.

Each year, producers, international sellers, distributors and financiers meet up in Cannes, to form partnerships for tomorrow's films.

In 2008, the Marché welcomed more than 10,500 international participants from 97 countries and representing 4,173 companies.

ION international Film Festival is a touring festival dedicated to promoting independent film, documentary, animation, original screenplays and music videos. It honours and promotes individuals for their outstanding achievements, while encouraging new artists to emerge.

Each year, ION is held in a different international location in an effort to promote global awareness and unity. ION moved from Hollywood in 2007, to Dubai in 2008 and will be hosted in Nigeria in 2009, traveling to Istanbul in 2010.

IONIFF Nigeria09 strives to bring awareness to individuals and organisations creating socially relevant movies to positively impact Nigeria and our world. ION International Film Festival representatives will be in Cannes until May 24, hosting and attending to filmmakers enquiries, while promoting the call for entries to ensure a global official selection during the festival celebration in Nigeria.
