The ION International Film Festival is a touring festival that is dedicated to promoting independent film, documentary, animation, music video and movie trailers. Each year ION will be held in a different international location in an effort to promote global awareness and unity.

This year the ION Film Festival promises to be like none other. This 2-day event of screenings, forums and workshops will allow directors, producers and actors the opportunity to learn from one another and build networking connections through a wide array of artistic prospectives.

ION continues to celebrate the ever expanding world of film, animation and advertising by inviting talents from across the globe to enrich and cultivate these fields, providing an insider's look into world cultures and advancements in the industry.

ION 2007 will showcase and promote high-quality international shorts - in the form of movie trailers, narratives, documentaries, animation and music videos. We will also be screening features - in the form of narrative, documentary and animation.

ION is about everything entertaining, thought-provoking, controversial and most of all ION is about creativity. So get ready and get busy because ION is not holding back!

Categories

There will be 7 separately juried competitions in this year ION festival, open to entries from anywhere in the world.

The juried competitions are as follows. Click on each category to view descriptions:

1. Features (Films in this category must be at least 50 mintues in length)
   <Comedy, drama, docu-drama, horror, film noir, suspense, any features that concentrate on story lines and character development fit here.>
2. Documentary (Films in this category must be at least 50 mintues in length)
   <Non-fiction or factually based films like travelogues, educational, newsreel, historical and the “reality” genre.. >
3. Animation (All lengths are accepted)
   <Animation category entries include features and shorts and can include claymation, stop motion, computer, anime, Flash and other emerging applications.>
4. Short (Films in this category must be less than 50 minutes in length)
   <Comedy, drama, docu-drama, horror, film noir, suspense, any shorts that concentrate on story lines and character development fit here.>
5. Short Documentary (Films in this category must be less than 50 minutes in length)
   <Non-fiction or factually based films like travelogues, educational, newsreel, historical and the “reality” genre.>
6. Music Videos
   <Rock, new wave, goth, punk, ska, classical, jazz, folk, blues, country, reggae, dance hall, world, traditional, indigenous, we’re as eclectic as the music you send us.>
7. Movie Trailers
   <Previews of comedy, drama, docu-drama, horror, film noir and suspense. >

Selections

ION appoints independent selection committees to view all submissions for both pre-selection and final selection. The selection committee's comprise of industry professionals such as directors, producers, agents, film and ad executives and animators.
